Hi, my name is Caroline Byrne and I'm the founder of Brazen Botany. I've been making things for my whole life. I grew up in Ireland where my imagination thrived. As a child I had a passion for crafting complex designs from simple materials and found objects. I studied at National College of Art and Design in Dublin where I specialised in Ceramic Design. After graduating I moved to London to embark on a career in set design. This gave me the opportunity to work on countless exciting and prestigious projects working alongside some hugely inspirational creatives. Throughout this time I continued to work on an array of independent personal projects. You can find a selection of my other work here.
Brazen Botany became my labour of love during lockdown 2020. Being stuck in my London flat paled in comparison to the life of a set designer, creating ad campaigns and window displays for luxury brands. I wanted to bring that vibrance and atmosphere into my own home, but all my previous attempts with plant parenting had ended in failure. This became my problem to solve as I endeavoured to create something everlasting. I decided to put my skills, passion and artistic license to good use and create the magic of a tropical jungle inside my home. I became playful with colours and textures and went beyond what exists in nature to create my own statement art houseplants, made of my favourite high quality materials.
